MAURO BONAVENTURA’S PERSONAL EXHIBITION RETICOLA-MENTE – VENICE PROJECTS GALLERY

From 23 November 2012 to 6 January 2013, Mauro Bonaventura’s personal exhibition RETICOLA-MENTE will be held at the Venice Projects gallery of contemporary art.
The pieces selected for this exhibition will focus attention on a new interpretation of this Venetian artist’s work. Buonaventura is the first local artist to be hosted at the Venice Projects gallery.
Although the skillful lampworking technique of Murano glass allows this master glassmaker and artist to create large, complex compositions while not losing sight of the extremely sophisticated workmanship and attention to the material’s qualities and technical characteristics, his goal in this case is focused on exploring the profundity of his work from a conceptual point of view and a non-scientific motivation.
“Creativity may be described as a sort of non-systematic, non-deterministic rationality, brought forth by new events that make up invaluable signs that predispose an individual to contemplate new possibilities and new approaches that are different from the ones previously tried.”
With this definition as his starting point, the artist has examined himself and his condition through representations of the “hypothetical thinking” that generates the “creative act”.
Hypothetical thinking – in other words, the ability to anticipate, imagine, and rework these stimuli – is an essential feature of any artistic expression which Bonaventure has represented as an intricate network of neurons and synapses, amongst which the man and artist attempts to lose or disentangle himself. The brain thus acquires, for Mauro Bonaventura, a conceptual and fundamental aesthetic centrality. The mind – that center designated for assimilation and revision of these messages – is a sacred space, transparent and infinite, as opposed to the body which, with its physicality and therefore its finitude, clearly defines the profane counterpart of human beings.

Mauro Bonaventura was born in Venice in 1965. He graduated in electronics In 1983.
While looking for his first job, he began working, by pure chance, as an apprentice in a Venetian furnace. After only a few months of training, he left the glassworks to concentrate all his energy on lampworking, which developed into his first and only job. In 2003 he enrolled in art school from which he received a diploma after studying drawing, sculpture, painting, and anatomy. His works and his spheres, in particular, have been exhibited in important art galleries and museums around the world.

Dal 23 novembre 2012 al 6 gennaio 2013, presso gli spazi della galleria d’arte contemporanea Venice Projects, avrà luogo la mostra personale di Mauro Bonaventura dal titolo RETICOLA-MENTE.
La selezione di lavori esposti in questa occasione intende focalizzare l’attenzione su una nuova lettura dell’opera di questo artista veneziano, primo artista locale ad essere ospitato negli spazi della galleria Venice Projects.
Nonostante l’abile tecnica di lavorazione a lume del vetro muranese, che consente al maestro vetraio e artista di realizzare composizioni complesse e di grandi dimensioni pur non perdendo mai di vista la raffinatissima fattura e l’attenzione per gli aspetti e le caratteristiche tecniche della materia; in questo caso, l’obiettivo è focalizzato sull’esplorazione della profondità del suo lavoro dal punto di vista concettuale e perché no scientifico.
“La creatività si può qualificare come un genere di razionalità non sistematica e non deterministica, suscitata da eventi nuovi che costituiscono degli indizi preziosi in quanto predispongono il soggetto a considerare nuove ipotesi, nuove vie, diverse da quelle già collaudate.”
Partendo da questa definizione, l’artista indaga se stesso e la sua condizione attraverso la rappresentazione del “pensiero ipotetico”, che genera poi “l’atto creativo”.
Il pensiero ipotetico, ovvero la capacità di prevedere, immaginare e rielaborare gli stimoli è una caratteristica essenziale di qualsiasi espressione artistica e viene rappresentata da Bonaventura come l’intricato reticolo di neuroni e sinapsi, tra i quali l’uomo e artista cercano di perdersi o districarsi. Il cervello, quindi, per Mauro Bonaventura acquisisce una centralità concettuale ed estetica fondamentale. Sede deputata all’assorbimento e rielaborazione dei messaggi, la mente rappresenta uno spazio sacro, trasparente e infinito da contrapporre al corpo, che con la sua fisicità e quindi finitezza, delinea bene la controparte profana dell’essere umano.

Mauro Bonaventura: nasce a Venezia nel 1965. Nel 1983 dopo essersi diplomato in Elettronica e in attesa del primo impiego, per puro caso va a lavorare presso una fornace veneziana come garzone. Dopo solo pochi mesi di pratica abbandona la vetreria e concentra tutte le energie sulla lavorazione a lume, che diventa il suo primo e unico mestiere. Nel 2003 si iscrive al Liceo Artistico e ottiene il Diploma dopo aver studiato disegno, scultura, pittura, anatomia. I suoi lavori e soprattutto le sue sfere sono esposti in importanti gallerie d’ arte e musei di tutto il mondo.
