ART AND NATURE: A NEW AND INNOVATIVE GRAPHIC STYLE

Milan, 22nd November 2016 – Under the direction of new artistic director Angela Vettese, Arte Fiera is set to hold its 41st edition with an updated version, confirming its identity as the most consolidated and historically rich Italian art fair. From the 27th – 30th January 2017, the longest-running event for Italian modern and contemporary art is set to bring new innovations to the pavilions of BolognaFiere.

“I have been a regular visitor to Arte Fiera,” explains Franco Boni, President of BolognaFiere, “and this year, at my first Arte Fiera as President of BolognaFiere, I’ve been able to touch with my own hands the energy that this event generates, mobilizing the whole city and its institutions around the fair. I am also particularly happy that my first Arte Fiera coincides with the appointment of the new Artistic Director, Angela Vettese, who has created the outline of an Arte Fiera that has been significantly updated. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the former artistic directors for their work because their contribution has been essential in consolidating the event’s position on the international circuit of contemporary and modern art fairs.”

NEW GRAPHIC STYLE
The first new innovation for Arte Fiera 2017 is the new graphic style that has been completely updated to highlight what has always distinguished the fair’s approach to art: on one hand nature in its many forms, on the other hand the human capacity to define it, accepting it with a mental flexibility that includes also its more perturbing aspects.
The graphic project has been developed by Andrea Lancellotti of Studio Lancellotti, Milan.

THE SECTIONS
A new layout for Arte Fiera 2017 which will develop across two large pavilions of the Bologna Exhibition Centre containing the displays of the exhibiting galleries.
A MAIN SECTION and a series of SOLO SHOWS, both selected by the artistic director and a selection committee. The two sections include 133 galleries, to which can be added those of the curatorial sectors. The gallery owners and managers involved in the Committee, selected based on their interest in modern or contemporary art and their origin within the territory are: Laura Trisorio, Studio Trisorio, Naples; Marco Niccoli, Galleria Niccoli, Parma; Massimo Di Carlo, Galleria dello Scudo, Verona, Alessandra Bonomo, Galleria Alessandra Bonomo, Rome. Further guaranteeing the high quality of the event are the international figures involved in the art market: the curator Roberto Pinto (Professor of History of Contemporary Art at the University of Bologna) and the art historian Maria Grazia Messina (professor of History of Contemporary Art, University of Florence and President of the Technical Committee ‘Art and contemporary architecture urban periphery’ at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism).

Art Fiera will be completed with a small section of new proposals curated by Simone Frangi, entitled NUEVA VISTA and dedicated to the artists considered worthy of a new critical reinterpretation, not only young artists.

“The expert’s meticulous and disciplined analysis led to the decision to create an edition of the fair that is more compact with a lower number of participants compared with the previous editions in spite of the increasing demand for admission. Ate Fiera aims to serve as a venue for the exhibition and sale of modern and contemporary art and at the same time as a location for reflection on the themes and languages of the latest current events,” explains the new artistic director Angela Vettese.

Welcoming the visitors to Arte Fiera 2017 will also be a new bookshop “Printville” curated by A+Mbookstore, an innovative space that proposes rare volumes as well as books from the Koenig bookshop in Cologne alongside the usual selection of books and art catalogues.

Alongside the Bookshop the area TALK will offer a rich programme of meetings, some of which will be dedicated to the more interesting publishing projects at the bookshop.

NUEVA VISTA curated by Simone Frangi
Designed as a pilot edition (in a spirit of exploration) the section Nueva Vista lays the foundations for the development of a curatorial project within the fair context: a project that reflects on the intricate and controversial relationship between artistic research, producing at the same time a precise critical look capable of transversally observing generational and geographical origins of artists and galleries involved.
Nueva Vista is designed, in fact, in order to shed light on, within a commercial context, the balancing point between discourse and saleability of emerging artistic research, between a critical process and formalization, between planning commitment in social and political spheres and sustainability. Particular attention has been reserved, and will be reserved in future, to those galleries that investigate and reflect critically on that ideological cut-off point imposed between Western and non-Western artistic practices.

A NEW LOOK AT THE INDEPENDENT WORLD
Arte Fiera 2017 is undertaking an experiment that sheds light on the independent world of photography and art in an attempt not to trace a confine between the disciplines but rather to find a shared space between the two.
The experiment aims to propose, within a consolidated art fair, a moment dedicated to production and discussion for experts from the sector, authors and students.
The thought guiding the approach to this sector of production, within the world of art, photography and publishing, is led by the idea that in recent history a large part of the debate has originated in the independent and underground spaces.
In order to transform this position into a visible product with which the public can interact, Arte Fiera has organized four particular situations:

Mostra GENDA – THE BODY AS PACKAGING, Genda is an independent publishing and curatorial project, a magazine with a double editorial staff: one in Italy, the other in China and edited by A+Mbookstore. It collects contributions from Chinese and Western artists in order to produce and verify the existence of a reciprocal dialogue. www.gendamagazine.com

PRINTVILLE, is the bookshop that aims to offer the latest contemporary Italian and foreign productions in the world of art and photography, productions that originate mainly from independent publishers who usuallywork in small teams and with print runs of a maximum of 500 copies. The bookshop will be curated by A+Mbookstore with Humboldt Books.

TALKS, authors, curators, publishers, gallery owners and collectors discuss the issues of the contemporary project: such as how collaborations, translations and languages of independent production have found space within the institutions and the market.

THE PRIZES
This year will also see the return of the Arte Fiera Prizes.
The Euromobil Group, main sponsor of Arte Fiera Bologna, is promoting the 11th edition of the Euromobil Prize Under 30 for artists exhibited by the galleries at the Fair. The Prize, the winner of which will be selected by an expert jury, will be awarded on Saturday 28th January at 4pm. A second award will be chosen directly by the public (The Public’s Special Prize) to the work (and therefore the artist) that receives the highest number of votes from visitors to Arte Fiera in addition to the votes received from those who have viewed the work on the website www.gruppoeuromobil.com.

In its third edition the Videoinsight® Foundation Prize, which will be assigned by Rebecca Russo – President of the Videoinsight Foundation, collector, sponsor and creator of the Videoinsight® Method – will be awarded to the exhibited work that best promotes amongst those that view it the idea of personal wellbeing and the concept of life as research, according to the ideas of Michael Foucalt. Videoinsight® means a deep and evolving awareness that involves the mind and emotions, obtained through the vision of selected works of contemporary art.

The sixth edition of the Rotary Valle del Samoggia Prize is dedicated to the most creative installation presented at the Fair. The prize, established to promote the culture of contemporary art amongst the young generations and to spread the ideals of the Rotary club, will make use of a close collaboration with the Rotary International 2072 Emilia-Romagna and San Marino, with Rotaract Bologna and with the Libera Accademia di Studi Caravaggeschi “Francesco Maria Cardinal del Monte”. The prize offers acknowledgement and a sum of money that will be awarded to the winning gallery.

ART CITY Bologna
Alongside the exhibition at Arte Fiera 2017, from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th January, the city will take centre stage for the fifth edition of ART CITY Bologna, the programme of exhibitions, events and cultural initiatives born from the collaboration between the Bologna Council and BolognaFiere to offer new opportunities for discovery and knowledge of artistic heritage spread through contamination with the contemporary.
In 2017 ART CITY Bologna will enhance its formula with a new section of ART CITY entitled Polis, coordinated by the Bologna Museums Institution, supported and promoted by Arte Fiera with the aim of promoting reviews and interventions by contemporary artists specifically conceived as part of a dialogue with the particular characteristics of the exhibitions spaces and historic locations in which they are located. There will be exhibitions and events that deal with the themes of cohabitation, the new identity of Italian cities and the necessity to conceive, also through art, a new civic sensibility. The initiatives of ART CITY Polis will be held at Arte Fiera and in the city, thus activating an even closer dialogue between the event and the city. Among the planned initiatives are the Genda Photographic Exhibition in collaboration with the Masters’ course in Photography at the IUAV University of Venice; at the Civic Archaeological Museum – Bologna Museums Institution, the screening of the film that revisits the national identity Viva l’Italia curated by Mark Nash; at the Fair and in the city a series of artists’ lectures curated by Chiara Vecchiarelli; the review of the video documentaries Corpo Sensibile (Sensitive Body) by young Italian artists curated by Marco Bertozzi.

Numerous further initiatives will be proposed by the museums and by private individuals such as that at the Opificio Golinelli and at MAST.

As is the case each year for ART CITY Bologna the creative energy of the institutions, public organizations and cultural operators will be coordinated by an integrated network that will bring the high quality cultural programme to life. Priority will be given to the accessibility of the venues of ART CITY Bologna through a local public transport line, the ART CITY Bus, the pocket guide ART CITY Map with useful information about the scheduled events and an extension of regular opening hours. In order to encourage the appreciation of the language of art by a diverse public, instruments for mediation such as informative material, welcoming services, educational materials curated by guides and educators and activities of edutainment for children with the programme ART CITY Bologna, will be provided.

On Saturday 28th January Art City White Night, the all-night art event with hundreds of initiatives and thousands of visitors to the city for a night dedicated to unique Italian art will take place. VIVA L’ITALIA curated by Mark Nash
A cinematographic review at the Civic Archaeological Museum – Bologna Museums Institutions: a series of feature length screenings that, in one way or another refer to ‘Italy’ as a sort of meaning within a psycho-geographical frame.
The films selected present and critique the mythologies in which Italy is manifested. Not the Italy to be hurriedly united in Viva L’Italia by Roberto Rossellini (1961), but the Italy at the end of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s of Bertolucci, Pasolini and others, when the events in Paris in 1968 were still resonating. These films deal with political, social and personal conflicts with a brand new approach. They are inventive in terms of cinematographic form and for the political and individual imagination that they manage to create. Some films from that period deal with ‘institutional criticism’ with reflections expressed in their own specific visual and conceptual language, exploiting themes linked to sex, politics (and to a lesser extent, gender). Bologna has a consolidated tradition of imagination and projects that move towards new social, political (communism) or individual (feminism, psychoanalysis, gay and lesbian emancipation) forms. Therefore, these short films are to be considered also as a sort of imaginary psyche of the city of Bologna.

ARTISTS LECTURES curated by Chiara Vecchiarelli
A programme of artist lectures divided into, on one hand, site-specific performances that will take place in different exhibition spaces in the city of Bologna bringing the urban and cultural fabric to life, and on the other, performances linked to the history of art that articulates, within the Fair, the relationship between the contemporary and the modern. In recent years the artists lectures have come to include performance works held by artists that use the conference as an artistic medium like any other. A genre historically pertinent to the academy and more generally to the institutions for transmitting consciousness, the public speaking has come to be defined as the location for the emergence of a new relationship between artistic work and discursive practice. Conferences, guided tours or lessons, the artists lecture appropriates the coded instruments for communication of knowledge in order to make art about that same knowledge.

CORPO SENSIBILE (SENSITIVE BODY) curated by Marco Bertozzi
A review of young Italian artists: a focus on forms on the frontier between video art and documentary cinema. A porous frontier where the appearance of the real takes on the waste and lacerations until it produces plain glances and even piercing ones.

Works by young artists that explore the mysteries of this relationship: archive traces, poems of light, visual strips at the edge of aesthetic experience, where the real is to be constantly reinvented and documentary cinema is the opposite of a model of certainty. Corpo Sensibile aims also to recompose a common generational field. The proposed artists, after a heterogeneous period of training in Italy, are aged in their thirties and are experiencing an international dimension marked by residencies and collaborations capable of combining poetry and languages of contemporary art, participating in film festivals or exhibitions in museums or galleries in the more classical distribution channels for visual art.

Milano, 22 novembre 2016 – Con la nuova direzione affidata ad Angela Vettese, Arte Fiera arriva alla sua 41esima edizione in una versione rinnovata, confermando la propria identità di fiera d’arte italiana maggiormente consolidata e ricca di storia. Dal 27 al 30 gennaio 2017, la più longeva kermesse di arte moderna e contemporanea d’Italia porterà nei padiglioni di BolognaFiere numerose novità.

“Sono stato un assiduo visitatore di Arte Fiera – dichiara Franco Boni, Presidente di BolognaFiere – e quest’anno, alla mia prima Arte Fiera da Presidente di BolognaFiere, ho potuto toccare con mano la grande energia che questa manifestazione mette in circolo, mobilitando attorno alla Fiera tutta la città e le sue Istituzioni. Sono anche particolarmente felice che la mia prima Arte Fiera coincida con l’insediamento del nuovo Direttore Artistico, Angela Vettese, che ha delineato i confini di un’Arte Fiera fortemente rinnovata. Colgo l’occasione per ringraziare il lavoro dei precedenti Direttori artistici perché il loro contributo è stato essenziale per accreditare la manifestazione nel circuito internazionale delle Fiere dedicate all’arte moderna e contemporanea”.

NUOVA VESTE GRAFICA
La prima novità di Arte Fiera 2017 è la nuova veste grafica, completamente rinnovata, che punta a mettere in evidenza ciò che da sempre contraddistingue il fare artistico: da un lato la natura nelle sue molteplici forme, dall’altro la capacità umana di circoscriverla e ripensarla, accettandone con flessibilità mentale anche i lati più perturbanti.
Il progetto grafico è di Andrea Lancellotti dello Studio Lancellotti, Milano.

LE SEZIONI
Layout rinnovato per Arte Fiera 2017 che si sviluppa in due grandi padiglioni del Quartiere fieristico di Bologna in cui si articola la proposta delle Gallerie espositrici.
Sono previste una MAIN SECTION e una serie di SOLO SHOW, scelte entrambe dal direttore artistico e da un Comitato di selezione composito. Le due sezioni complessivamente contano 133 gallerie, a cui si aggiungono quelle dei settori curatoriali. I galleristi coinvolti nel Comitato, equamente distribuiti per i loro interessi nel moderno e nel contemporaneo nonché per la loro provenienza territoriale, sono stati: Laura Trisorio, Studio Trisorio, Napoli; Marco Niccoli, Galleria Niccoli, Parma; Massimo Di Carlo, Galleria dello Scudo, Verona, Alessandra Bonomo, Galleria Alessandra Bonomo, Roma. A ulteriore garanzia della qualità delle proposte, sono state coinvolte figure estranee al mercato dell’arte: il curatore Roberto Pinto (Docente di Storia dell’Arte Contemporanea, Università di Bologna) e la storica dell’arte Maria Grazia Messina (Docente di Storia dell’Arte Contemporanea, Università di Firenze e Presidente del Comitato Tecnico Consultivo Arte e Architettura contemporanee Periferie Urbane, Ministero dei Beni Culturali e del Turismo).

Arte Fiera mercato sarà completata da una piccola sezione di nuove proposte a cura di Simone Frangi, intitolata NUEVA VISTA e dedicata ad artisti meritevoli di una rilettura critica e non necessariamente giovani .

Sarà presentata una sezione di FOTOGRAFIA, curata da Angela Vettese.

“L’analisi attenta e severa degli esperti ha portato alla scelta di una edizione della fiera più compatta, con un numero minore di partecipanti rispetto al passato nonostante l’aumento delle domande di ammissione. Arte Fiera intende proporsi come un luogo di esposizione e vendita di arte moderna e contemporanea e al contempo come sede di proposta e di riflessione su temi e linguaggi di stringente attualità”, commenta il nuovo direttore artistico Angela Vettese.

Ad accogliere il visitatore di Arte Fiera 2017 sarà anche un nuovo Bookshop “Printville” curato da A+Mbookstore; uno spazio innovativo che propone libri rari, da consultare, e remainder provenienti dalla libreria König di Colonia accanto a una scelta più consueta di libri e cataloghi d’arte.

Attigua al Bookshop l’area TALK ospiterà un ricco programma di incontri, alcuni fra i quali dedicati alle più interessanti proposte editoriali del Bookshop.

NUEVA VISTA a cura di Simone Frangi
Pensata come un’edizione pilota – a carattere profondamente esplorativo – la sezione Nueva Vista mette le basi per lo sviluppo di un progetto curatoriale in contesto fieristico; un progetto che rifletta sull’intricata e controversa relazione tra ricerca artistica e mercato, producendo allo stesso tempo uno sguardo critico preciso, capace di percorrere trasversalmente provenienze generazionali e geografiche degli artisti e delle gallerie coinvolte.
Nueva Vista è pensata, infatti, per mettere a fuoco, all’interno di una fiera commerciale, il punto di equilibrio tra discorsività e vendibilità di ricerche artistiche emergenti, tra processo critico e formalizzazione, tra impegno progettuale nella sfera sociale e politica e sostenibilità. Un’attenzione particolare è stata riservata, e sarà riservata in futuro, a quelle gallerie che, attraverso la programmazione, indagano e riflettono criticamente su quella soglia ideologicamente imposta tra pratiche artistiche western e non-western.

UN NUOVO SGUARDO AL MONDO INDIPENDENTE
Arte Fiera 2017 intraprende un esperimento che mette in luce il mondo indipendente della fotografia e dell’arte, nel tentativo di non tracciare un confine tra le discipline ma di trovare tra queste uno spazio di condivisione.
L’esperimento intende proporre all’interno di una consolidata fiera d’arte un momento dedicato alla produzione e alla discussione rivolta a esperti del settore, autori e studenti.
Il pensiero che orienta lo sguardo a questo settore della produzione, all’interno del mondo dell’arte, della fotografia e dell’editoria, è guidato dall’idea che nella storia più recente buona parte del dibattito provenga dagli spazi indipendenti e underground.
Per cercare di trasformare questa posizione in un prodotto visibile con il quale il pubblico possa interagire, Arte Fiera ha scelto quattro momenti:

Mostra GENDA – THE BODY AS PACKAGING, Genda è un progetto editoriale indipendente e curatoriale, è una rivista con una doppia redazione in Italia e in Cina ed è edito da A+Mbookstore.
Raccoglie contributi di artisti cinesi e occidentali nella ricerca di produrre e verificare l’esistenza di un reciproco dialogo.

PRINTVILLE, è il bookshop che intende mostrare le produzioni contemporanee italiane e straniere più attuali nel mondo dell’arte e della fotografia, produzioni che provengono per la maggior parte da editori indipendenti, che, in genere, lavorano in piccoli team e con tirature di stampa che raggiungono al massimo i 500 esemplari. Il bookshop sarà curato da A+Mbookstore con Humboldt Books.

TALKS, autori, curatori, editori, galleristi e collezionisti discutono la questione del progetto contemporaneo; come le collaborazioni, le traduzioni e i linguaggi della produzione indipendente hanno trovato spazio all’interno delle istituzioni e del mercato.

I PREMI
Confermati anche quest’anno i Premi di Arte Fiera.
Il Gruppo Euromobil, main sponsor di Arte Fiera Bologna, promuove la 11esima edizione del Premio Euromobil under 30 riservato agli artisti presentati dalle gallerie della Fiera. Il Premio della Giuria di Esperti sarà assegnato sabato 28 gennaio alle ore 16.00. Un secondo riconoscimento verrà attribuito, direttamente dal pubblico (Premio Speciale del Pubblico), all’opera (e quindi all’artista) che avrà ottenuto il maggior numero di voti dai visitatori di Arte Fiera sommati ai voti che chiunque potrà esprimere, visionando le immagini delle opere in concorso pubblicate sul sito www.gruppoeuromobil.com.

Alla terza edizione, torna il Premio della Fondazione Videoinsight® che sarà assegnato da Rebecca Russo – Presidente della Fondazione Videoinsight, collezionista mecenate e ideatrice del Metodo Videoinsight® – e andrà all’opera esposta che più promuove negli spettatori la Cura di Sè e la vita come ricerca, secondo il pensiero di Michel Foucault. Videoinsight® significa presa di coscienza profonda ed evolutiva che coinvolge mente e affettività, ottenuta attraverso la visione di selezionate opere d’arte contemporanea.

All’installazione più creativa presentata ad Arte Fiera è dedicata la sesta edizione del Premio Rotary Valle del Samoggia. Il Premio, istituito per promuovere la cultura dell’arte contemporanea fra le giovani generazioni e per divulgare i principi del Rotary, si avvale di una stretta collaborazione con il Distretto Rotary International 2072 Emilia-Romagna e San Marino, con il Rotaract Bologna e con la Libera Accademia di Studi Caravaggeschi “Francesco Maria Cardinal del Monte”. Il premio consta di un riconoscimento e di una somma in denaro che verranno consegnati alla galleria vincitrice.

ART CITY Bologna
Accanto all’offerta espositiva di Arte Fiera 2017, da venerdì 27 a domenica 29 gennaio la città tornerà protagonista per la quinta edizione di ART CITY Bologna, il programma di mostre, eventi e iniziative culturali nato dalla collaborazione tra Comune di Bologna e BolognaFiere per offrire nuove opportunità di scoperta e conoscenza del patrimonio artistico diffuso attraverso la contaminazione con il contemporaneo.
Nel 2017 ART CITY Bologna innova la propria formula progettuale con la nuova sezione ART CITY intitolata Polis, coordinata dalla Istituzione Bologna Musei, sostenuta e proposta da Arte Fiera con l’intento di promuovere rassegne e interventi di artisti contemporanei specificamente concepiti in dialogo con le caratteristiche peculiari degli spazi espositivi e dei luoghi storici in cui si inseriscono. Ne saranno parte mostre ed eventi che si interrogano a vario titolo sui temi della convivenza, della nuova identità delle città italiane, della necessità di concepire, anche attraverso l’arte, una nuova sensibilità civica. Le iniziative di ART CITY Polis si terranno in Fiera e in Città, attivando così un dialogo ancora più serrato fra la manifestazione e la città. Tra le iniziative in programma ricordiamo in Fiera l’esposizione fotografica Genda, in collaborazione con il master in fotografia dell’università IUAV di Venezia; presso il Museo Civico Archeologico – Istituzione Bologna Musei la mostra di film che rivisitano l’identità nazionale Viva l’Italia a cura di Mark Nash; in Fiera e in città la serie di lectures d’artista a cura di Chiara Vecchiarelli; la rassegna di video documentari Corpo Sensibile di giovani artisti italiani a cura di Marco Bertozzi.
Numerose altre iniziative saranno proposte dai musei cittadini e da soggetti privati quali l’Opificio Golinelli e il MAST.
Come di consueto, inoltre, in occasione di ART CITY Bologna le energie creative di istituzioni, enti pubblici e operatori culturali saranno coordinate in un virtuoso sistema di rete integrata che animerà una programmazione culturale di alto profilo qualitativo. Sarà confermata la prioritaria attenzione verso l’accessibilità ai luoghi di ART CITY Bologna attraverso la linea del trasporto pubblico locale ART CITY Bus, la guida tascabile ART CITY Map con le informazioni utili sugli eventi in programma, e l’ampliamento degli orari di apertura. Per favorire un avvicinamento ai linguaggi dell’arte contemporanea da parte di pubblici eterogenei saranno inoltre disponibili strumenti di mediazione come la diffusione di materiali informativi, servizi di prima accoglienza e orientamento divulgativo a cura di operatori didattici e attività di edutainment rivolte ai bambini con il programma ART CITY Children.
E sabato 28 gennaio torna l’Art City White Night, la Notte bianca dell’Arte con centinaia di iniziative e migliaia di visitatori in città per una notte dedicata all’arte unica in Italia. Una rassegna cinematografica al Museo Civico Archeologico – Istituzione Bologna Musei: una serie di proiezioni di lungometraggi che, in un modo o nell’altro, fanno riferimento alla “Italia”, come a una sorta di significante all’interno di una cornice psico-geografica.
I film selezionati presentano e criticano in particolare mitologie in cui, in qualche modo, si manifesta l’“Italia”. Non l’Italia da unificare in fretta di Viva L’Italia di Roberto Rossellini (1961), ma l’Italia della fine degli anni ’60 e dell’inizio degli anni ’70 di Bertolucci, Pasolini e altri, quando gli eventi di Parigi del 1968 erano ancora molto attuali. Questi film affrontano i conflitti politici, sociali e personali con un approccio inedito. Sono ricchi di inventiva, in termini di forma cinematografica e per l’immaginario politico e individuale che riescono a creare. Alcuni film di quel periodo si occupavano di ‘critica istituzionale’, con riflessioni espresse nel proprio specifico linguaggio visivo e concettuale, esplorando al contempo i discorsi legati al sesso, alla politica (e, in minor misura, al gender). Bologna ha una consolidata tradizione di immaginazione e di realizzazioni che vanno verso nuove forme sociali, politiche (comunismo) o individuali (femminismo, psicanalisi, emancipazione di gay e lesbiche). Quindi questa coorte di film è da considerarsi anche come una sorta di immaginario psichico della stessa Bologna.

LECTURES D’ARTISTA a cura di Chiara Vecchiarelli
Un programma di artist lectures articolate da una parte in performance specifiche al luogo, che si svolgeranno in diversi spazi espositivi della città di Bologna animandone il tessuto urbano e culturale, dall’altra in performance legate alla storia dell’arte che articoleranno, all’interno della Fiera, il rapporto tra il contemporaneo e il moderno. Nel corso degli ultimi anni si sono avvalse dell’appellativo di “artist lecture” opere dal carattere performativo tenute da artisti che assumono la conferenza come un mezzo artistico alla pari di ogni altro. Un genere storicamente di pertinenza dell’accademia e in generale delle istituzioni di trasmissione della conoscenza, il discorso rivolto a un pubblico è andato definendosi come il luogo d’emergenza di un nuovo rapporto tra l’operazione artistica e le pratiche discorsive. Conferenza, visita guidata o lezione, l’artist lecture si appropria di dispositivi di trasmissione del sapere codificati per compiere un’operazione artistica sulla stessa conoscenza presa a oggetto.

CORPO SENSIBILE a cura di Marco Bertozzi
Una rassegna di giovani artisti italiani: un focus sulle forme al confine fra video arte e cinema documentario. Una frontiera porosa, laddove l’apparenza del reale si carica di scarti, lacerazioni, slittamenti, sino a produrre sguardi disadorni. Eppure lancinanti.
Opere di giovani autori che sondano il mistero di questa relazione: tracce d’archivio, poemi di luce, lembi visuali alle soglie dell’esperienza estetica, laddove il reale è costantemente da reinventare e il cinema documentario l’opposto di un paradigma della certezza. Corpo sensibile mira anche a ricomporre un campo generazionale comune. Gli artisti proposti – dopo un eterogeneo periodo di formazione in Italia – sono trentenni che stanno vivendo una dimensione internazionale, segnata da residenze e collaborazioni capaci di ibridare poetiche e linguaggi dell’arte contemporanea: per partecipare, indistintamente, a festival di cinema o a momenti espositivi in musei o gallerie, nei più classici canali distributivi dell’arte visiva.
